Basic Information

When do the training sessions take place?

Training times are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7 PM to 9 PM. Training pauses for approximately 2-3 weeks in winter (from around mid-December) and for approximately 3-5 weeks in summer (from around mid-July to mid-August). Training is canceled on national holidays. We manage our training sessions via our own web app.

What does a membership cost?

We are a club. To access our full training, one must become a member. The club fee for members is paid once a year in January and includes the license from the Swiss Karate Federation (SKF). The minimum age for members is 18; we are an adult club. Upon joining, you will receive an information sheet with all details. The fees for professionals and students include three training sessions per week and training sessions of the Swiss Goju Ryu Karatedo Renmei. Additional training camps are not included and cost extra.

  • Professionals: CHF 400
(For entry during the year, only the remaining months plus the SKF license are due.)
  • Apprentices & Students: CHF 200
  • Passive Members: CHF 50
    (without SKF license)

Is it possible to have a trial training session?

Are you interested in Goju-Ryu Karate and at least 18 years old? Are you new to martial arts? Currently, we have few spots available for trial training. You can add your name to our waiting list. We will inform you when we have an open spot for a trial training session (trial training for newcomers is then possible every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7 PM to 9 PM). If you are not yet 18 years old: our training is for adults only.

Is the club SKF-licensed?

Yes. With the SKF license, our members receive a Karate pass in which all license stamps and completed examinations are registered. The SKF license is internationally recognized in every dojo that belongs to an organization of the World Karate Federation.

How do the belt system and examinations work?

The belt system is a modern invention. Each belt color represents a level, from the first level in pure white to the highest level in black. Our training program is also oriented towards the level. Each level has its target techniques, Kata, Bunkai, and Kumite exercises. The rank naturally increases with the level. When you are ready for the next level, it's time for the examination. Examinations take place twice a year. Successful examinations are recorded in the Karate pass and are also internationally recognized (SKF license).
